Musk removed top staffers including Vijaya Gadde who served as legal affairs and policy officer

(Reuters) - Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, wrote in an email to Reuters on Friday that the company would learn from its error in choosing the law firm Perkins Coie to represent it in a federal lawsuit in California this week.

Even though Musk has criticized the company on social media Perkins Coie attorneys entered court appearances for Twitter in the case on Wednesday.

In Musk s email he said that Twitter team member made a mistake by selecting Perkins Coie. He declared that Perkins won t be representing Twitter in further lawsuits.

After months of internal conflict over Twitter s legal personnel and goals since Musk purchased the business for $44 billion and assumed leadership in October he has now pointed the finger.

As he works to correct what he has characterized as prior censorship and partisan prejudice at the firm Musk has removed top staffers including Vijaya Gadde who served as Twitter s legal affairs and policy officer.

On December 8 Musk had advised other companies to shun Perkins Coie and stated that Twitter wasn t utilizing Perkins Coie as outside counsel. He singled out Michael Sussmann, a former Perkins Coie attorney who assisted Hillary Clinton s 2016 campaign.
