Europe's biggest automaker said Sunday that the up will come in three versions.

The small car will have varying specifications and will be one of the smallest four-seat cars. It will be 11.6 feet (3.54 meters) long.The car will be powered by a 1-liter (61-cubic-inch) gasoline engine. Volkswagen says a natural gas version will follow and there are definite plans for a version with electric drive in 2013.Volkswagen didnt give prices for the new model or say when it would be launched outside Europe. It says the up will come with an optional emergency braking function designed for city driving.
