Microsoft Working on A New Xbox Mobile App

(Web Desk) - Microsoft is working on a new version of the Xbox Console Companion app according to a report by Windows Central. This new version will be at par with the Xbox Game Pass and Project xCloud apps.

Microsoft’s new Xbox Mobile app will reportedly “match the design language of the upcoming Xbox Store redesign and other more recent Xbox apps." The revised version of the Console Companion app has shed a few of its features compared to its earlier variant and PC Companion app users are being cajoled into swapping over to it.

The current Xbox mobile app that’s available on both iOS and Android stores performs a multitude of features such as, public matchmaking, messaging, keeping up with Clubs and remotely controlling the Xbox One.

It is unclear how many of the these features will remain in the redesign. Useful options such as messaging and matchmaking are definitely making the cut, but perhaps Clubs and some lesser used features might reach the bin.

While there exists a separate (beta version) Xbox app for PC, there is no set release date on revamped Xbox mobile app. But with the beta version already in existence, the mobile version shouldn’t be too far off.
