Huawei unveils Ascend 910 AI processor, computing framework 'MindSpore'
Huawei claimed the new AI processor is the worlds most advanced.
GUANGDONG (Reuters) - China’s tech giant Huawei unveiled its new Ascend 910 AI processor and new AI computing framework MindSpore on Friday in south Chinese city of Shenzhen.
Huawei claimed the new AI processor is the world’s most advanced.
"In terms of computing power, test shows the Ascend 910 has reached design specifications. It only takes 310 watts to achieve designed computing power, remarkably lower than the designed 350 watts. That is to say, with the same power consumption, its computing power is double the industrial average," said Xu Zhijun, Rotating Chairman of Huawei.
The processor is the company’s further expansion into the AI sector and a move to achieve its chip strategy amid intensified U.S. crackdown.
Along with the processor, Huawei also released MindSpore, an all-scenario AI computing framework. The company said the framework can better protect user privacy and it will open source in the first quarter of 2020.
