(Web Desk) – Sony launches a new colossal 16K TV in Japan which is even bigger than a double-decker bus.

According to an online website,
• The enormous TV is 63ft (19.2m) wide and 17ft (5.4m) high.
• To put that into perspective, it’s bigger than a double-decker bus.
• It’s about as long as a cricket pitch and more than twice as tall as beanpole footballer Peter Crouch.
• With more pixels than the 1080 offering, it’s fair to say it’s seriously HD.

Speaking to the BBC, Strategy Analytics’ David Mercer said: "We’re moving slowly towards 8K TVs at the end of the decade and who knows how long it will take to get beyond that, so 16K is likely to be limited to the corporate world for the time being.

"But there’s no doubt about it. These displays are incredibly impressive in person - even 8K on a big display is almost mesmerizing.

"When you get to this resolution it delivers almost a quasi-virtual reality experience as your eyes perceive there to be depth to the content."

Sony’s 16K TV is currently being installed at a research center built for Japanese cosmetics group Shiseido in Yokohama.

It was announced by Sony at the National Association of Broadcasters trade show in Las Vegas.
