Summary Compared to 4G, 5G network is more suitable for panoramic video transmission
5BEIJING (Reuters) - 5G and 4K technologies are now providing us with HD videos with clearer and better picture quality, enabling us to enjoy all-round services in our lives through application of the Internet of things.
Wuhan University in central China s Hubei Province, also reputed for its large number of cherry trees, recently held a live broadcast of cherry blossoms in a 360-degree panorama with 4K ultra HD video based on a 5G network transmission. By doing so, hundreds of tourists sampled first hand, cutting edge technology with better depth of focus using their mobile devices.
"5G technology makes the picture much more clearer and it has better depth of focus making the pictures more vivid," said a tourist.
China Mobile in Hubei has set up several high-definition panoramic cameras above the cherry avenue of Wuhan University to capture the pictures of the cherry blossom festival and switched to real-time pictures taken by different cameras via 5G technology.
Compared to 4G, 5G network is more suitable for panoramic video transmission. Even if six channels of 4K HD signals are transmitted at the same time, the picture will still be crispy clear.
The pair of technologies have also been applied in the daily patrol mission routine of a local police station in Bao an District in Shenzhen City, south China s Guangdong Province.
Tangtou police station began to explore the possibilities of the 5G and 4K Internet of things intelligent policing system, for public security management since last October. So far, the station has been able to use 5G network to upload real-time high-definition pictures taken by UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), police motorcycles to the police service cloud platform of the command center.
"Now this picture in video is transmitted through 5G mobile network, you can make a comparison, here is HD video taken by our fixed camera and sent back through fiber. So there s really no difference in clarity between the two sides," said Zhang Xiangguo, political instructor of Tangtou police station.
