SEOUL (Reuters) - Cutting-edge technology in eco-friendly and autonomous vehicles has highlighted the ongoing 2019 Seoul Motor Show in Goyang City, with the number of exhibitors hitting a record high.

The annual show, held at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) from March 29 to April 7, features all the latest the automotive world has to offer. From the latest concept cars to hard-core motor heads, it s all one can expect from a world-class motor show.

A hybrid electric vehicle with an integrated solar panel on the roof attracted a lot of attention at the show. The solar panel provides 30 percent of the vehicle’s power in winter and 50 percent in summer, and contributes about 5 percent of its endurance mileage.

In addition, the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle at the show has made breakthroughs in hydrogen storage and safe use.

The hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is sold now by franchised dealerships in South Korea and the U.S., with a price of about 61,000 U.S. dollars each.

"I am very much interested in such a kind of car, but now its price is relatively high. If it is cheaper later, I will (consider buying one)." said a visitor.

This year, a total of 227 automakers, auto parts companies and IT enterprises have participated in the auto show, reaching a record high.

In recent years, the show has also paid greater attention to artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data, and the days when world premieres and scantily-clad models were the main attractions at auto shows seem to have gone.
