Longest total lunar eclipse of the century will occur on July 27
The next total lunar eclipse will occur on January 21, 2019
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The century s longest lunar eclipse will occur on July 27, would be visible in major part of Asia including Pakistan.
The eclipse will last one hour and 43 minutes with Africa, the Middle East and southern Asia having the best viewing window.
The lunar eclipse would also be visible in Europe, Australia, Africa, South of North America, South America, Pacific Ocean, Atlantic ocean, Indian ocean and Antarctica.
In Pakistan, the eclipse would start at 2215 hours on Friday night which would turn into partial eclipse at 2324 hours while the total eclipse would be held at 1230 hours. However, the greatest eclipse would start at 0123 hours on Saturday and continue till 0215 hours, which would turn into partial eclipse at 0319 hours and end at 0429 hours turning moon light in its normal condition.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon orbits into the central part of the Earth s shadow. They area also known as a "blood moon" for the reddish hue the moon takes on during an eclipse.
The July 27 lunar eclipse will be especially long because the moon will be at its farthest point in its orbit.
The next total lunar eclipse will occur on January 21, 2019.
