(Web Desk) - Facebook and Google form the major chunk of the online users. However, there are more online forums for which are progressing in terms of audience and digital advertising.
Data analysis of traffic flow revealed that Facebook leads the social media as per observation of social media strategist Vicenzo Consenza through Alexa and SimilarWeb. However, in some countries, homemade social platforms dominate the scene. Instagram is most popular in Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Iran and Indonesia. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are blocked in most areas of China, where QZone is the tops the list of social media network with 632 million active users.
In Russia, The social media networks owned by Mail.RU ie. VKontakte (VK) AND Odnoklassniki (OK.ru), have many users which are also increasing as per Consenza. Statista group lists China’s favorite messaging apps to be QQ and WeChat.
Amazon is popular amongst Kids in Germany according to survey conducted by Forsa for Bitkom in December 2016. Brits spend the most time on Google
In Britian, data obtained from survey of 5000 people through measurement firm Verto Analytics depicted that users of Google and Facebook remain online for 1 in 3.5 minutes. In U.K., more than 1 minute in every 6 minutes on Google properties- primarily search, YouTube and Gmail (Properties of Google), which also includes WhatsApp and Instagram.
A newly combined offering of Google and AOL i.e. Oath, ranks seventh in terms of utilization based upon time in U.K.
“The implications of a handful of dominant companies — particularly just two — go beyond simply which sites we surf. You have fewer sites increasingly controlling not only what you see and hear, but where advertising revenue goes,” said Hannu Verkasalo, CEO of Verto Analytics.
Aside from BBC which accounts for half of internet time in U.K., another British company Sky is included in the list of most-used sites of BBC. U.S. firms are the ten most dominant companies in U.K. (if BBC excluded from the list).
YouTube outpaces Facebook-owned apps in global active users
Report by Statista stated that 1.5 million strong Youtube was recorded to be placed securely in competition with 2 million Facebook users and its messenger app, which had 1.2 million (WhatsApp) app users, when compared in terms of highest numbers of active users on monthly basis. Instagram had 700 million users and WeChat ranked fifth with 938 million users.
Facebook reaches the most 18- to 29-year-old U.S. users
Concerning U.S.A., Statista’s data of month February states that 18-to 29-year old users form 86 percent, 58 percent and 71 percent, respectively when it comes to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Twitter (47 percent) and Snapchat (46 percent) are followers in the list of social media platforms, respectively constituting the same age group.
