Summary Researchers studied 16,000 cars and here is what they found:
(Web Desk) – Researchers have attempted to study reasons for why taxicabs are usually yellow and they have found one reasonable explanation for it.
Singapore-based researchers studied yellow and blue cabs for a period of three months.

Singapore spends around $1.4 million a year for refurbishment of blue taxicabs
A total of 16,000 cars were tracked for 90 days and following were the findings:
-
During the daytime, yellow cabs were five percent less likely to be involved in an accident than blue taxis.
-
During the nighttime, yellow cabs were found to be 19 percent less likely to crash with another car.
The researchers have stated that probably, the colour; yellow, is easily visible under street lights leading to lesser vulnerability to accidents as compared to blue cabs.
The experiment mainly studied the rear-hits; hitting a car from the rear was counted as an accident by the researchers.
