Summary Twitter announced to change the symbol since star may confuse newcomers, heart a universal symbol
LAHORE: (Web Desk) – Social networking website Twitter has on Tuesday changed its ‘favorite’ feature, replacing it with a ‘like’ one. The symbol for ‘favorite’ i.e. a ‘star’ has now been replaced by a ‘heart’ that denotes ‘like’.
According to the announcement posted on its blog, Twitter said that the ‘favorite’ was denoted by star which may confuse some people, especially the newcomers. Moreover, “You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite”, says Twitter. Twitter said that the heart is a universal symbol for anything that one may like and thus had a wide range to convey emotions to the people.
Twitter has also rolled it out on Vine and the same ‘like’ feature will now be seen on Vine as well.

The feature has also been rolled out on Vine for Android app and website.
