Makinson hat-trick leads England to series win over Kiwis

LONDON (AFP) - Tommy Makinson scored a hat-trick of tries as England beat New Zealand 20-14 in the second rugby league Test on Sunday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in a three-match series.
England ran in four tries in total, the influential Jake Connor also crossing the Kiwis’ line, as the hosts pulled clear in the second half after the teams turned round level at 6-6.
"Playing for this badge is emotional and it means a lot to perform like that as a team," said Makinson as England followed up their 18-16 win in Hull to render next weekend’s third Test in Leeds a dead rubber.
"The tries were good but they were made by the team around me. We have great fellas all over the park and a great chemistry," he told the BBC after his impressive display at Anfield, the home ground of football giants Liverpool.
"I am not the biggest but I put my heart on the line every time."
