Hockey: World XI win series as 2nd match against Pak XI ends in draw

Spectators had gathered in large numbers to witness the revival of international hockey in Pakistan.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The World XI on Sunday (yesterday) won the two-match series against Pakistan XI after the game in Lahore ended in a draw at the National Hockey Stadium.

According to details, the match between the World XI and Pakistan junior team ended up with scores of 3-3. Spectators had gathered in large numbers to witness the revival of international hockey in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Adeel Latif, Naveed Alam and Rizwan Ali scored one goal apiece. Roderick Weusthof and Rob Reckersw scored for the World XI. Adeel Latif was declared Man of the Match.

Pakistan Hockey Federation President Brig (R) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, Senior Secretary Shahbaz Ahmad and a number of former hockey Olympians and sponsors of the series were present on the occasion.

Fans seemed particularly happy over the visit of the World XI, and thanked the tourists for travelling to Pakistan to help sports’ revival in the country.

It is worth mentioning here that the World XI had defeated Pakistan by 5-1 in the first match that was played in Karachi earlier.
