Summary Aqeel Khan and Aisamul Haq beat Iranian Shahin Khaledan and Anoosha Shahgholi respectively

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan lead Iran 2-0 in Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Zone Group-II tie on Friday in first international event hosted by Pakistan after 12 years.

Aqeel Khan and Aisamul Haq beat Iranian Shahin Khaledan and Anoosha Shahgholi.

Firstly in a single’s match, Aqeel Khan ousted Khaledan by 3 to 0 which was followed by Aisamul Haq’s victory in straight sets.

While talking to the media, captain of Iranian squad said that there are no security issues in Pakistan. Rashid Malik, Pakistan’s non-playing captain said that his squad comprised of tennis luminary Aisamul Haq, Aqeel Khan, Mohammad Abid Ali Akbar and Muhammad Abid Mushtaq.

Pakistan has missed some chances earlier to host the event over security concerns, he added.
