Summary
South Africa still enjoyed edge over Pakistan at draw of stumps on the penultimate day of the second cricket Test despite Abdur Rehmans all-round heroics at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Tuesday. South Africans were holding an overall lead of 323 runs after reaching 174 for the loss of four wickets in their second innings. Ashwell Prince (27) and wicketkeeper Mark Boucher (13) were at the crease when play ended for the day. The last session was dominated by Pakistan bowlers as they grabbed three important wickets in 33.4 overs for 92 runs. Hashim Amla scored an attractive 62 in 64 balls blasting eight boundaries. Fourth day belonged to Abdur Rehman, who proved himself an all-rounder of Test class. He scored a maiden enterprising half century to save Pakistan from the follow-on. Later in the afternoon he proved his class as a good slow left arm by claiming three wickets including the prized-scalp of AB de Villiers, who scored a record-breaking 278 and opener Hashim Amla. 29-year-old Rehman from Sailkot finished the second innings with three wickets for 73 runs in 21 overs after picking up two wickets for 150 runs in 50 overs in South Africas first innings. Rehmans batting was treat to watch he hammered all the South African bowlers in parts of the ground in making 60 in 139 balls and it was spiced with eight boundaries and hoisting a six.
