Real Madrid have won the Champions League title for the 11th time in Milan, as they defeated Atletico Madrid 5-3 on penalties. The match was tied at 1-1 after regular and extra time.
In a re-match of 2014 final, Atletico were looking for a revenge. Real got the lead in the 15th minute, through Sergio Ramos, who had also scored in the 2014 final. Atletico equalised in the 78th minute as Yannick Carrasco scored.
The match went into extra-time as it was tied at 1-1 after the regulation time. Both teams failed to score in extra-time and it had to be decided by penalties.
Real Madrid converted all five penalties, including the decisive one from Cristiano Ronaldo. Juanfran missed the only penalty for Atletico which costed Atletico the match and Champions League trophy for the second time in three years.
