Summary David Ferrer's world ranking fell two places after failing to reach Rio de Janeiro Open final.

PARIS (AFP) - David Ferrer s failure to reach the final of the Rio de Janeiro Open has seen his world ranking fall two places.

Both Kei Nishikori and Tomas Berdych moved ahead of the Spaniard in the top 10 with Ferrer down to eighth.

Rising Austrian player Dominic Thiem climbs four places to 15th after reaching the semi-finals in Rio a week after winning the title in Buenos Aires.

Australian hope Nick Kyrgios, meanwhile is up to a career-high 33rd place after winning the first ATP title of his career in Marseille on Sunday.

Novak Djokovic, who resumes his season at Dubai this week, is still comfortably ahead in top spot.
