Summary Higuain missed an easy chance in the 90th minute; his penalty shoot went way over the goal post
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Argentina lost the Copa America final to Chile on Saturday and was yet again denied a major trophy of the world after their defeat to Germany in the World Cup final last year. Boasted as the Golden Generation of Argentine football, blessed with players like Lionel Messi, Angel di Maria, Carlos Tevez, Javier Mascherano, Sergio Aguero and Sergio Romero, Argentina has lost 5 major finals during the last 11 years. Gonzalo Higuain, however, has been held responsible for at least two of these defeats at finals.
In World Cup final, Higuain had missed one of the easiest chances of the entire tournament in the 21st minute. Later, he celebrated a goal but was off side.
Now in Copa America final against Chile, first he missed a chance in the 90th minute and then went on to shoot a penalty way over the crossbar, giving Chile a huge advantage before the home crowd. Banega missed the next penalty under immense pressure and Sanchez then scored a lovely penalty on a scoop as Romero was already completely beaten.
Immediately after the miss, Twitterati lashed out at Higuain for his totally off the mark penalty shoot.

It is also true that Argentine Coach Martino s decision to substitute Aguero with Higuain was beyond comprehension. Why not Tevez, people wondered.

Chelsea fans mocked Higuain; went on to even call him a fraud.
