Summary

Verdasco thrashed top-seeded Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, depriving the Serb of a chance to avenge his defeat to Nadal in last year's final. Rafael Nadal produced a masterpiece to beat David Ferrer 6-2 6-3 and reach the final of the Monte Carlo Masters.Earlier Novak Djokovic eased past an out-of-sorts David Nalbandian to reach the Monte Carlo Masters semi-finals. The Serb took advantage of a raft of Nalbandian errors, particularly in the first set, to win 6-2 6-3, ensuring he would be the only non-Spanish player in the last four. Djokovic broke twice early on to race into a 3-0 lead before the Argentinian rallied to pull it back to 3-2. He was struggling to control his game, however, and Djokovic broke again to take the set 6-2.It will be the first all-Spanish final at Monte Carlo since Juan Carlos Ferrero beat Carlos Moya in 2002. Verdasco has lost all nine matches he's played against Nadal, who will be aiming for his first title since beating Djokovic on clay in May at the Rome Masters.
