Summary A letter has been written to sports ministry warning against govt interference in the sport.
JOHANNESBURG (AP) - FIFA says secretary general Jerome Valcke s letter Thursday to both sports minister Fikile Mbalula and South African Football Association President Kirsten Nematandani reminds them to respect an agreement that a government-appointed commission was restricted to just investigating allegations of match-fixing ahead of the 2010 World Cup, and no other issues.
FIFA s warning came after a statement critical of SAFA was released by the sports ministry and the government-aligned Olympic committee.
It said that the South African government might look into other apparent problems with the national football federation, including alleged financial mismanagement after reports it is 92 million rand ($10 million) in debt despite hosting the World Cup three years ago.
