New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka by 22 runs in the second Twenty20 international match in Colombo to win the two-match series by 2-0. NZ won the toss and scored 170-4. Openers Brendon McCullum (49 from 34) and Jesse Ryder (52 from 37) got the tourists off to a flyer, putting on 84. Martin Guptill (32 from 20) also weighed in with useful runs. Sri Lankan start was disappointing and they were three down on 11. Mahela Jayawardene (41 from 30) and Kumar Sangakkara (69 from 50) gave the hosts hope, but Shane Bond took 3-18 as Sri Lanka was restricted to 148-8. Earlier Sri Lanka lost the first T20 match by three runs after a tough competition.
