Summary

Seven-times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong was joined by more than 200 cyclists on a bike ride through Paisley, Scotland after the American posted an invitation on Twitter. The cycling legend said he was slightly surprised by the number of people who turned up to join him. Among those who accompanied Armstrong on the wet and rainy ride was former world hour-record holder and two-time individual pursuit world champion, Graeme Obree. Armstrong is due to take part in the Tour of Ireland which starts on Friday August 21. Last month, Armstrong announced that he will quit his current team Astana and form a U.S.-based team in 2010 in partnership with RadioShack Corporation. The 37 year-old, who returned to competitive racing this year after retiring in 2005, finished third in the 2009 Tour de France.
