Played in Cincinnati, Gilles Simon beat Russian Igor Andreev by 7-6, 6-7 and 6-1. In the other match David Ferrer beat Croatian star Marin Clic by 7-6 and 6-2. Earlier Australian player LIeyton Hewitt beat Robin Soederling by 3-6, 7-6 and 6-4.
