American Lisa Raymond returns to the top spot of the WTA’s doubles rankings, sharing it with partner Liezel Huber. It’s a tremendous achievement for Raymond, 38, who is now the oldest player, male or female, to top a tennis ranking. It’s especially well deserved as she and Huber have been playing lights out lately, winning eight titles over the course of their year-long partnership. Those eight are part of the 73 total she’s captured over the course of her career. It’s been a great ride for Raymond so far, and it looks like it could easily continue for a few more years. She looks more fit than she’s ever been, even when she was a top-15 singles player. Also, Raymond and Huber have proven they can handle the big-hitting singles players when they team up as their knowledge, hands and experience led them on a four-tournament winning streak earlier this season.
