The stage is set for a by-election for NA-155 in Lodhran-II as PPP candidate and Shaheed Kanjo groups independent candidate are likely to have a neck-and-neck contest.The seat got vacant after the resignation of Nawab Hayat Tareen in the wake of the fake degrees issue. An interesting fact is that his opponent during 2008 general election was same as is now Akhtar Khan Kanjo. Though observers believe that former MNA Nawab Hayat Tareen of the PPP has an edge over his opponent in tomorrows by-elections of NA-155 Lodhran II, as major political forces of the area are out for his support, yet a tough competition will be witnessed here. The parties participating held big gatherings on the last day of the campaign, big posters and hoardings of the candidates could be witnessed across the constituency.The total number of voters in the constituency is 272,095. Out of this, 156,075 are male, while 115,973 are female voters. The Election Commission of Pakistan has set up 61 polling stations for men and 61 for women, while 190 are combined, hence the total number of polling stations in the constituency is 312. PML-N and PML-Q has announced to support Kanjo groups candidate Akhtar Khan.
