A huge fire engulfed the City Centre, a busy commercial centre in Quetta, destroying around 250 shops and causing losses worth millions of rupees. The fire erupted due to a short circuit and continued for several hours, as thick smoke clouds covered the sky above. The City Centre, located near the Liaqat Bazaar, is a popular shopping centre for women. Most of the shops and offices located in the centre were closed, at the time of fire Friday is observed as a local holiday in the area. Fire brigade teams reached the spot and started making efforts to extinguish the fire, which was the largest in Quetta in recent years. The shops destroyed in the fire were mostly of shoes, garments and cosmetics.
