Mobile service suspension case to be heard 19th

Summary Another petition has been filed in the SHC against suspension of mobile phone service in Karachi.

Responding to the application, the Chief Justice of SHC has formed a special bench that will conduct hearing of the case on November 19.

The petitioner termed the move unconstitutional and unlawful, pleading to restrain the interior ministry of Pakistan from taking such action in the future.

The ministry had blocked the mobile service on the 1st of Muharram-ul-Haram in view of sensitivity of the day and to thwart possible terrorism attacks. The action was taken in the past also for the same reason but had invited severe criticism from the general public.

People said that they face immense trouble in connecting with their loved ones and receiving emergency calls. In their view, the move is not the solution to maintain lasting law and order in the city.
