Summary QWP chief Aftab Sherpao said that MQM and ANP were using Talibans name to play politics.
Chairman Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said on Thursday criticized Muttahidda Qaumi Movement and Awami National Party for using the Taliban’s name to play politics.“The so-called champions of Pakhtuns rights along with PPP and MQM want space and are using Taliban’s name. Let me make it clear that Pakhtuns will be the worst sufferers of operation in Karachi or elsewhere in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal areas,” he said.He said the law and order problem was created politically and should be resolved on political terms.Sherpao urged the government to work out a proper strategy for the region keeping in view the withdrawal of Nato forces in 2014.“The government has no focus on the issue of militancy as it has no strategy for the post-2014 scenario in the region,” he said.He feared the post-withdrawal scenario would be devastating for Pakhtuns if the government failed to work out plan. The QWP chief lamented that government had ignored the tribal people because neither the president nor prime minister visited the tribal areas for the last four and a half years. He was speaking at press conference at his residents, where tribal elders from South Waziristan, Orakzai agencies and Dera Ismail Khan joined QWP and expressed confidence in the leadership of Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao.Aftab Sherpao said the incumbent government deliberately gave up pursuing the peace policies initiated by him when he was interior minister.“The Grand Pak-Afghan jirga had positive impacts on the region that led to the minimization of anti-Pakistan sentiments in Afghanistan. That jirga was proving fruitful for bringing back peace to the region but unfortunately this government did not implemented the decisions taken in the jirga,” he said.Talking about the situation in tribal areas, he said the government’s flawed policies and military operations resulted in the displacement of 0.8 million people.“Military operations are not solution to the problems. The government must take all the political parties and tribal elders on board before taking any decision regarding the tribal areas,” he said.He maintained that tribal people happened to be the worst sufferers in this conflict in terms of losses of lives, properties. They had lost their businesses besides schools and health centers were blown under a conspiracy to push them in darkness of illiteracy and at last they were forced to leave their homes.“Now they are living a miserable life in camps where they are lacking basic facilities like water, electricity and latrine,” he said.He further said QWP would truly represent the Pakhtuns and take the tribal people onboard on every issue.
