Summary A parliamentary panel has sought the report regarding additional PCSIR job quota to KP.
National Assembly Standing Committee on Science and Technology met on Thursday in the parliament house with Dr Abdul Kadir Khanzada in the chair discussed appointments made in the PCSIR and showed reservations over additional posts given to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab and Sindh were deprived from their seats.During the meeting it was observed that actual quota of KPK was 11 seats while 25 seats were given to the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. It was also observed that Punjab was deprived from six seats while Sindh was deprived from five seats in different departments of ministry of Science and technology.Committee said that according to the constitution of the country and devised law any province cannot given the right of other province adding that when seats are reserved for province then it is their right to get those seats.Secretary Science and technology Akhlaq Tarar informed the committee that all this happened in the tenure of former minister for Science and technology Azam Swati and he had given extra seats to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.The committee directed him to give complete details of recruitments made during last five years in different departments of ministry of science and technology. Committee also directed him to strictly follow the quota set for minorities and give due seats to the minorities in the country.After much debate and differences between Chairman Committee and member Roshan-un-Din Junejo over procedure of appointment of DG PCSIR in Karachi, standing committee recommended Secretary Science and technology to thoroughly probe the matter and see that either this transfer has been done on merit or not.Secretary Akhlaq Tarar clarified that ministry has not appointed new DG PCSIR but an official working in the ministry has been transferred however he assured the committee that he will once again over view this matter and would submit the report over it.Over the appointment of Shamim Durrani secretary PCSIR Islamabad, standing committee asked secretary ministry of Science and technology to see this issue amicably and give report to the standing committee.
