Summary Ishaq Dar and IAEA chief Rafael Grossi discussed the evolving regional situation and agreed that implementing the Islamabad MoU is the best way to defuse tensions in the Middle East.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke with Ambassador Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA and candidate for UN Secretary-General.

They discussed the evolving regional situation and agreed that implementation of the Islamabad MoU remained the best course of action to defuse tensions in the Middle East. Ambassador Grossi offered technical support should the need arise.

DPM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring commitment to advancing the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and to respecting international law and treaties.

Ishaq Dar also highlighted the crucial importance of the UN system in realizing the global peace and development agenda. He wished Ambassador Grossi well in his campaign for the office of UNSG.
