LAHORE (Dunya News) - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has warned that his party will launch a movement to oust the government if its demands are not accepted.
Addressing participants of a sit-in in Lahore, Hafiz Naeem said protests were also expanding across Punjab, adding that the JI was raising its voice against injustice and would continue its struggle until its objectives were achieved.
He said the movement aimed to change the existing system, which, according to him, had created a “consortium” of landlords and influential feudal elements that deprived the people of their right to govern.
Referring to Defence Day, he said people had defended the country on September 6 by laying themselves before tanks.
Hafiz Naeem said reducing the interest rate by three percent could save the national exchequer Rs1,500 billion.

He recalled Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s pledge to eliminate interest but said it had not been fulfilled.
He also criticised bureaucratic privileges, including large official residences and vehicles with free fuel, saying official cars should not exceed 1,300cc.
He warned that failed negotiations would lead to a wheel-jam strike and wider shutdowns.
If demands remained unmet, he said, the JI would launch a movement to bring down the government.
