ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed appreciation for US President Donald Trump’s words of support regarding the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Shehbaz wrote, “Deeply appreciate President Donald Trump’s kind words of support on the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.”

He said Pakistan, together with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, would continue to play a constructive role in strengthening the defence of their countries and the wider region.

“Together with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Turkiye, Pakistan will continue to play a constructive role in ensuring the defence of our own countries as well as the entire region,” he wrote.

The prime minister also praised President Trump for what he described as “courageous and decisive leadership,” saying it helped avert a nuclear catastrophe in South Asia and saved millions of lives.

“I would also like to once again commend President Trump for his courageous and decisive leadership, which helped avert a nuclear catastrophe in South Asia and saved millions of lives,” Prime Minister Shehbaz said.

He further emphasized the importance of lasting peace, stating, “Durable peace is the most essential prerequisite for a bright and prosperous future for our peoples.”

Earlier, Trump welcomed the recently signed joint defence agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan, describing it as a major step toward greater regional security cooperation.

“THIS IS A BIG, BOLD, AND IMPORTANT FIRST STEP — WOW!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“It shows how the Middle East is coming together, and how Countries will finally be able to defend themselves in a more meaningful way,” he added.

“Very happy to see that Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan have recently, and finally, signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement,” Trump wrote on social media.
