Summary Jamaat-e-Islami sends Rs1 billion defamation notice to Shabbar Zaidi over protest allegations
KARACHI (Web Desk) - Jamaat-e-Islami has served a Rs1 billion legal notice on former Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman Shabbar Zaidi over allegations that the party had allegedly received money from the establishment to suppress public protests and public issues.
The legal notice was issued on the instructions of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi General Secretary Taufiquddin Siddiqui.
According to the notice, the allegations have seriously damaged Jamaat-e-Islami’s decades-old political and social reputation, while Shabbar Zaidi has so far failed to provide any bank record or other evidence to substantiate his claims.
Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded that Shabbar Zaidi provide evidence supporting his allegations within seven days or issue an unconditional apology and remove all related material from social media.
The party warned that failure to comply would result in legal proceedings against Shabbar Zaidi and a claim for Rs1 billion in damages.
