Summary Polling will begin tomorrow amid tight security
MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – Election campaign came to an end on Saturday night in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), with political parties held mammoth rallies to woo voters for their candidates in elections on Monday (tomorrow).
On the last day of the election campaign, candidates from political parties contacted voters. After the election campaign ends, candidates and political parties will not be able to conduct election activities.
According to the schedule, the process of delivering election materials to polling stations for the July 27 polls will begin on Sunday (today). Security arrangements have been completed to maintain peace and order during the general elections.
Security personnel will be deployed at polling stations to ensure a peaceful election process. Voters will exercise their franchise to elect representatives on Monday.
Earlier, the Election Commission has made it clear that any announcement of new public welfare projects, financial packages or development schemes by the federal or provincial governments during the election period will be treated as a violation of the electoral code.
An Election Commission spokesperson said the poll body has the authority to seize vehicles, equipment or other facilities sent by federal or provincial governments during the election period and take legal action against those responsible if such measures breach election regulations.
The spokesperson added that while federal and provincial ministers are allowed to participate in election campaigns, they are prohibited from using official vehicles, government protocol, public resources or the state machinery for political purposes.
