Summary No casualties reported among troops during clearance operation

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Security forces foiled an attempted terrorist attack on a security forces check post in South Waziristan District on Saturday, killing four militants, including a suicide bomber, during a coordinated response, according to the military's media wing.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the attackers belonged to the Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij and attempted to storm the check post. The military said the assault was successfully repelled without any casualties among security personnel.

According to the ISPR, the militants attempted to breach the security of the check post but were met with a swift and resolute response from troops stationed at the facility. Security forces intercepted the attackers before they could penetrate the post's defences.

The military said an explosive-laden vehicle driven by a suicide bomber was engaged and destroyed outside the perimeter of the check post. The vehicle exploded before reaching its target, killing the suicide bomber and preventing any damage to the installation.

The ISPR stated that the timely action of security personnel ensured the attack failed to achieve its intended objective.

Following the destruction of the vehicle, the remaining three militants fled to a nearby compound after coming under fire from security forces.

The ISPR said troops launched a deliberate clearance operation, surrounding and engaging the militants with precision. All three were killed during the operation, while security forces reported no casualties on their side.

The military described the response as an example of the professionalism, vigilance and courage of security personnel deployed in the area.

A sanitisation operation is continuing in the surrounding area to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored militants who may be present.

According to the military’s media wing, the security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, with the aim of eliminating foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
