LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has issued a high alert across the province as monsoon rains continue, with authorities intensifying monitoring efforts to respond to potential emergencies.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, the alert has been issued following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, with round-the-clock surveillance underway to monitor rainfall, urban flooding, and other weather-related risks.
The authority said that 43 Smart Safe City Centres across Punjab, including Lahore, are operating 24/7 to monitor weather conditions, waterlogging, and flood-prone areas.
Using advanced surveillance cameras and artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology, officials are identifying low-lying areas, flood hotspots, and traffic bottlenecks. The Smart Safe City Centres are also providing real-time alerts to district administrations and relevant emergency departments to enable swift response.
The PSCA added that the Emergency Helpline 15 and emergency response teams remain fully operational to assist citizens during adverse weather conditions.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, follow safety precautions, and immediately contact Helpline 15 in case of any emergency.
