Summary Pakistan and Belarus agree to deepen defence cooperation through joint production, technology transfer, pilot training and military collaboration under new roadmap.

MINSK (Web Desk) - Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to expand defence cooperation following the recent visit of Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu to the Eastern European country.

During the visit, both sides discussed enhancing joint defence production, technology transfer and military collaboration under a 2025-2027 roadmap aimed at strengthening bilateral strategic ties.

The proposed areas of cooperation include advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), microelectronics, optronics and heavy military vehicles.

The two countries also discussed a proposal under which Pakistan would provide Belarusian pilots with basic and tactical-level flight training.

Speaking to the media, defence analyst Rear Admiral (Retd.) Faisal Shah said that after Belarus became a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus has expanded beyond diplomatic engagement into the industrial and defence sectors.

He said the latest developments could pave the way for broader defence collaboration among Pakistan, Belarus and Russia, while contributing to Pakistan's long-term defence self-reliance.
