Summary NDMA warns of flash floods and urban flooding from July 1-4 amid heavy rains in several regions across Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has issued an alert over heavy rainfall and possible flood situations in different parts of the country from July 1 to 4, 2026.

According to the alert, the influence of the monsoon system and western winds may cause a sudden increase in water flow in hill torrents and rainwater channels, raising the risk of flash floods in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said vulnerable areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa include Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Shangla, Buner, Battagram, Torghar and Kohistan.

In Punjab, low-lying areas and rain channels in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin may face flooding risks.

The alert stated that areas including Zhob, Sherani, Musakhel, Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlu, Dera Bugti and Loralai in Balochistan may also experience localized flash floods. Mountainous regions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan remain at risk of overflowing streams due to heavy rainfall.

NDMA warned that intense rains could inundate low-lying urban areas, disrupt traffic movement and damage roads, bridges, irrigation systems and other infrastructure.

The authority directed relevant departments to ensure precautionary measures, effective drainage arrangements, availability of emergency machinery and continuous monitoring of rivers and glacial lakes.

Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement in low-lying areas and near rivers, follow official safety instructions, and obtain updates through the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert app and relevant authorities.
