ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, reached Bürgenstock, Switzerland to participate in the high-level talks on the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, according to a statement issued by Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs here on Saturday.

Technical talks between the United States and Iran under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding are set to begin today in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, with officials from the United States, Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar taking part in the discussions. The meeting is aimed at advancing the implementation of commitments outlined in the agreement signed by Washington and Tehran.

These talks mark the first formal engagement after the signing of the Islamabad MoU on 17 June 2026. Pakistan will continue to support and advance the implementation of the understandings reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States.

On the sidelines of the talks, the Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral interactions with the participating delegations from Islamic Republic of Iran, Qatar, Switzerland and the United States, to reaffirm Pakistan's enduring commitment to dialogue and durable peace in the region.

Pakistan's facilitative role underscores its principled, balanced, and constructive approach throughout the crisis, including hosting earlier rounds of US–Iran talks and sustained diplomatic contacts that culminated in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

TRUMP ENVOYS ARRIVE IN SWITZERLAND FOR IRAN TALKS

White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are in Switzerland, where the first round of talks with Iran on a potential nuclear deal is expected to take place on Sunday, US officials told the media. Vice President Vance also reached Switzerland to participate in the negotiations.

IRANIAN DELEGATES REACH SWITZERLAND

Iranian delegates have reached Switzerland for technical-level talks. According to the Swiss Foreign Ministry, the Iranian delegation was welcomed upon arrival in Switzerland.

The Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, senior security official Ali Bagheri Kani, Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, diplomat Kazem Gharibabadi and Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei.
