LAHORE (Dunya News) - Government departments and institutions from Canada, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, along with a World Bank mission, have expressed interest in Punjab’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme, with a World Bank delegation expected to visit the province in the near future.

According to officials, the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar initiative has been recognized as one of the world's largest interest-free housing finance programmes. International experts have described the scheme as a model that could be replicated in other developing countries seeking to expand access to affordable housing.

The programme has also been presented as a significant example of affordable and social housing finance, highlighting Punjab’s efforts to improve housing opportunities for low- and middle-income segments of society.

A spokesperson for the Housing Department said the initiative was developed after drawing lessons from successful housing models implemented in various countries.

The spokesperson added that Punjab’s housing policies received international recognition during the World Urban Forum in Baku, where the province’s approach to housing and urban development was showcased before a global audience.

Officials said the Pakistani pavilion at the forum facilitated important engagements with international organizations, development partners and government representatives, helping strengthen cooperation in the housing sector.

The growing international interest in the programme is expected to create opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the field of affordable and social housing development.
