SHANGLA (Dunya News) - Six children from the same family were killed and another injured when the roof of a mud house collapsed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla district, rescue officials said on Tuesday.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Rasool Khan Sharif, seven children were trapped under the debris when the roof caved in early in the morning in the Rahimabad Bassi area of Alpuri tehsil.

He said rescue teams responded immediately after receiving the emergency call and recovered all victims from the rubble within an hour.

Officials said all the children were asleep at the time of the incident. Six of them died on the spot, while the condition of the injured child was stated to be critical.

The deceased were identified as 14-year-old Nazira Bibi, 13-year-old Samira Bibi, 12-year-old Umaira, seven-year-old Nayab, five-year-old Haya Noor, and five-year-old Rizwanullah. The injured child was identified as 11-year-old Marwa.

Rescue officials noted that this was not an isolated incident, recalling that last month three children were killed in a similar roof collapse in the Prang Majoki area of Charsadda district, which also left a couple seriously injured.
