Met office warns of severe heatwave during Eid holidays

Summary Temperatures in the plains of Sindh and southern Punjab could rise between 47 and 50 degrees Celsius.

(Web Desk) - Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that extremely hot weather is expected across the country during Eidul Azha holidays, with temperatures likely to remain significantly above normal in several regions.

According to the Met Office, temperatures in the plains of Sindh and southern Punjab could rise between 47 and 50 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday, Jacobabad recorded the highest temperature in the country at 50°C.

Other major temperature readings included 48°C in Turbat and Bahawalnagar, while 47°C was recorded in Sibi, Dadu, Larkana and Mohenjo-daro.

Meanwhile, temperatures reached 46°C in Sukkur, 45°C in Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan, and 44°C in Dera Ismail Khan.

The Met Office further reported maximum temperatures of 42°C in Lahore, 40°C in Islamabad, 38°C in Peshawar, 36°C in both Karachi and Quetta, 35°C in Muzaffarabad, and 29°C in Gilgit.
