Summary Decision was taken on the recommendation of the Livestock and Fisheries Department, which had submitted a summary to the cabinet
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh cabinet has approved a 15-day relaxation in the annual fishing ban, allowing limited fishing activities from June 1 to June 15, 2026.
According to a spokesperson for the Chief Minister of Sindh, the decision was taken on the recommendation of the Livestock and Fisheries Department, which had submitted a summary to the cabinet.
Officials stated that the annual fishing ban is normally enforced from June 1 to July 31 each year to protect marine life and ensure the breeding season of fish and shrimp. The cabinet, however, approved a temporary relaxation in response to demands from the fishing community.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the decision was made to accommodate fishermen’s concerns, while maintaining the broader objective of protecting aquatic life.
After June 15, the complete fishing ban will be reinstated as per the seasonal conservation policy, officials confirmed.
The government reiterated that the seasonal restriction remains essential for the preservation of marine resources and sustainable fisheries in the province.
