Summary Terrorist attack on Bannu police post foiled after overnight gunbattle. Militants fled with losses, one constable injured as forces launched search operation in the area.

BANNU (Web Desk) - A terrorist attack on the Mazanga police post in Bannu was foiled due to the timely and effective response of security personnel.

According to police, a large number of militants launched an attack on the outpost at around 1:30am, prompting immediate and strong retaliation by security officials.

The exchange of fire continued until dawn, after which the attackers were forced to retreat, suffering losses.

Following the incident, fresh contingents from Bannu Police Lines reached the site under the leadership of DPO Yasir Afridi, while other security forces also took control of the area.

During a joint search operation, blood traces were found at the scene, along with weapons and equipment abandoned by the attackers, including bandoliers, a ladder and shoes.

Constable Fareedullah was slightly injured while displaying bravery during the encounter and was provided immediate medical assistance.

Inspector General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed praised the performance of the personnel, calling them a valuable asset of the province.

He said terrorists target civilians through cowardly acts but will face a dire fate.

DPO Yasir Afridi stated that Bannu Police remains determined to eliminate terrorism and is responding strongly to all such attacks.
