PM advises President to dissolve local govts

The Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani has advised the President Asif Ali Zardari to allow the provinces to process draft Provincial Governments Acts, 2009 and to make enabling amendments in their Local Government Ordinances for the dissolution of the local governments. The Prime Minister has also advised for appointment of government officers as caretakers to perform the local government functions till such time the provincial governments take a decision in the matter. A meeting chaired by PM Gillani was attended by the representatives from all four provinces and decided to appoint government officials as administrator instead of local governments in October.
