KARACHI (Dunya News) - The medico-legal process of the remains of 73 bodies, recovered during search and rescue operations after the Gul Plaza tragedy, has been completed, Dunya News reported.
Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said that with the help of DNA testing, three more bodies have been identified. So far, a total of 27 bodies have been identified. For 65 missing persons, 56 family DNA samples have been collected. The number of people who lost their lives in the incident has now reached 74.
Meanwhile, the University of Karachi has received DNA samples of 48 bodies. Search operations and debris removal at Gul Plaza have been halted, and the affected building has been handed over to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA). According to the district administration, SBCA experts will decide whether the building should be demolished or not.
