Pakistan’s Parliament meets in joint session today as PPP confirms participation after resolving differences with PML-N. Key bills expected amid ongoing consultations with allies
ISLAMABAD - A joint session of the parliament will be held today, with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) confirming its participation.
The session is expected to focus on key legislative matters after recent differences between the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and its ally PPP were resolved.
Earlier, the two parties were not aligned on proposed legislation, but consultations involving Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Naveed Qamar, Aijaz Jakhrani and others helped settle outstanding issues. As a result, both sides have reached an understanding ahead of the joint sitting.
PPP members held internal consultations at Parliament House in the chamber of Sherry Rehman. The party has raised concerns over several proposed bills, including those related to Danish Schools.
Meanwhile, members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are expected to meet Rana Sanaullah to discuss the proposed legislation before the joint session.
