LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has issued a detailed verdict in the case related to the May 9 attack on the GOR Gate, sentencing convicted individuals to a cumulative 36 years in prison.

ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul released an 82-page written judgment, awarding Yasmin Rashid, Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Mahmoodur Rasheed, and Ejaz Chaudhry a combined sentence of 36 years under various legal provisions.

According to the verdict, the convicts were sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs500,000 under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 10 years under Section 10 of the same act, 10 years under Section 120 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), five years under PPC Section 505, and one year under PPC Section 153. The court also ordered confiscation of properties under Section 7(2) of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The court ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the case against Shah Mahmood Qureshi. It observed that his case was different from the other accused, noting that he provided air tickets to establish his innocence. Consequently, Shah Mahmood Qureshi was acquitted.
