LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said on Friday that the court martial and punishment of a three-star general will make both military and civil officials more careful in the future.

In his statement, Bukhari said that in the past, ordinary citizens have also faced military trials. He added that civilians can be court-martialed for actions against national interest, conspiracy, or attempts to create division within state institutions.

He said that democratic political leadership cannot support banning any political party, but restrictions can be imposed for violating the Constitution. The PPP believes in dialogue, he noted, recalling that even in the worst circumstances, former first lady Nusrat Bhutto and late former Benazir Bhutto brought political opponents together for the sake of democracy.

The PPP leader added that temporary relief-based dialogue holds no value and such talks should not be pursued. He said PTI creates an atmosphere of mistrust by repeatedly taking U-turns.
