Chief Minister Afridi expressed strong reservations over not being allowed to meet the PTI founder despite court orders, as well as over the mistreatment of the his sisters
PESHAWAR (Zeeshan Kakakhel) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for not allowing him to meet the PTI founder in Adiala Jail.
Chief Minister Afridi expressed strong reservations over not being allowed to meet the PTI founder despite court orders, as well as over the mistreatment of the his sisters.
Afridi lamented that elderly women were made to sit on a road one kilometer away from Adiala Jail. He described this as “inhumane, unethical, and a blatant violation of court orders.”
In the letter, Chief Minister Afridi put forward four demands to the Punjab government, stating that immediate implementation of court orders should be ensured and action should be taken against those who mistreated the PTI founder’s sisters.
He demanded that clear instructions be issued to jail and police authorities regarding the meetings, and that a dignified and lawful system be established for arranging meetings with the PTI founder in Adiala Jail.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister said that the PTI founder is a former prime minister and the leader of a political party, and that the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exists under PTI’s mandate — therefore, any violation of his fundamental rights is completely unacceptable.
